Who Are You?

There are a few of you who I don't know that have been come fans of my blog. Namely noothernamelikeme3 and prayergirl. Please introduce yourself in the comments section below.

“C” Part 4 of 4

The Corbans - “Claim” and “Numb and Senseless” from Organic Records Sampler. A punk/emo kind of band. If I even know what emo sounds like. I’m not very familiar with that genre.

The Cordettes - “Lollipop”. Yes, the Lollipop song. Go ahead, sing it to yourself. No one is watching or listening. I know you want to sing it. Just do it!

Corrine Bailey Rae - “Put Your Records On” from her self-titled debut.

Cory Hart - “Sunglasses at Night” from First Offense album. A classic one-hit wonder.

Count Basie and his Orchestra - Entire Ain’t Misbehavin’ album. A great jazz album. My favorite track is “Flight of the Foo Birds”.

Counting Crows - Another band that has a place in my Top 20. I have the following albums: Across a Wire: Live in New York, August and Everything After, Films About Ghosts: The Best Of…, Hard Candy, Recovering the Satellites, Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings, and This Desert Life.

Course of Nature - “Caught in the Sun” from Superkala. A modern rock ballad that . . . .well, rocks.

Craig David - Entire Born To Do It album. R&B at it’s finest.

The Cranberries - “Dreams” and “Linger” from Everybody Else is Doing It, So Why Can't We and the complete albums No Need to Argue, To the Faithfully Departed, and Wake Up and Smell the Coffee.

Crank Yankers - It was a show on Comedy Central; they still may run, I don’t know. I have the following skits (recorded prank phone calls): Batman Nemesis, Call in Sick, Retarded Water Survey from Hell, Spoonie Luv - Personal Ad, and Woman Thinks She Called the Postal Service. All great pranks.

Crash Test Dummies - One of the first CD’s I EVER bought was God Shuffled His Feet. I also have The Ghosts That Haunt Me. The latter album is not a good as the first one, in my opinion.

Crazytown - “Butterfly” from The Gift of Game. A huge alternative/grunge hit back in 2001.

Creed - Complete albums: Human Clay, My Own Prison, and Weathered.

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Entire Chronicle, Vol. 1 album.

Crosby, Stills, and Nash - My father is pleased that his sons still enjoy classic rock from his heyday. I have the entire So Far album and I enjoy it, so there!

Cry of Love - “Fire in the Dry Grass” from Feel the Power compilation. A classic rock feel.

The Crystal Method - “Bones Theme Song”.

Culture Beat - “Mr. Vain” from Serenity album. Culture Beat sounds very similar to Ace of Base, which makes me wonder if they are from Europe as well.

The Cure - “Lovesong” from Galore and “Close to Me” and “Friday I’m in Love” from Greatest Hits. I was introduced to The Cure by a teacher who worked at the school I student taught at.

Custom - “Hey Mister” from their Fast album. A track with interesting lyrics about an interesting subject. Check it out if you are curious.

Cyndi Lauper - “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” from Now That's What I Call The 80s and “Early Christmas Morning” from Superstar Christmas.

Cypress Hill - “Insane in the Brain” from Feel the Power compilation.

That concludes the “C’s”. I’ll C you later! Haha.

“C” Part 3 of 4

Before we begin, let me update you once again on new additions. I just added the entire Amy Winehouse Back to Black album, Audio Adrenaline’s Adios: The Greatest Hits album, and Bon Jovi Lost Highway album. I also added another freebie from Starbucks “Fly One Time” by Ben Harper and the Relentless7.

Chuck Berry - “Johnny B. Goode” from Chuck Berry is on Top album.

Chuck Lorre - “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” theme song.

Chumbawamba - “I Get Knocked Down” from Tub Thumping. Another one-hit wonder, but what a great track to be known by. A definite party anthem.

Ciara - “1,2 Step”, “Oh”, and “Goodies” from Goodies album. Sweet dance tracks. “Oh” features Ludacris.

Cinderella - “Don't Know What You Got (Til It's Gone)” from Power Ballads Gold album.

Cindy Lauper - “What’s Going On” from True Colors. “Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah, yeah, I said hey, what’s going on?” as the lyrics go. A classic 80’s hit.

Citizen Cope - “Let the Drummer Kick” from their self-titled album. I heard this song on a car commercial and loved it. So I downloaded it.

City High - “What Would You Do?” from their self-titled album. This song addresses some of the ills facing society today and leaving the answer up to us, the listeners.

CKY2K - “Bran’s Freestyle” and “Disengage the Simulator (demo)”. A friend introduced me to CKY2K the movie and I enjoyed some of the tracks from it.

Classics IV - “Spooky” from Classics IV - Greatest Hits. I’m not sure where this track even came from, but its good.

Clay Aiken - Complete Measure of a Man album.

Clay Walker - Entire If I Could Make a Living album. “Then What” from the Rumor Has It album.

The Click Five - “Just the Girl” from Greetings from Imrie House. Pop/rock.

Co. - “Boogie Machine [Rough Mix]” from Cheapskates: Softer Side

Colbie Caillat - Entire Coco album. I love Colbie Caillat.

Colby O’Donnis - “What You Got” from Colby O album.

Cold - “No One” from 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage.

Coldplay - At first, I was not a fan of Coldplay, but the more I listened to them, the bigger fan I became and now I would consider them in my Top 20 all-time favorite bands. I have the following albums: Live 2003, Parachutes, Prospekts March EP, A Rush of Blood to the Head, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, and X&Y.

Collective Soul - Also in my Top 20. I have the following complete albums: Afterwards, Blender, self-titled, Discipline Breakdown, Dosage, From the Ground Up, Hints, Allegation, and Things Left Unsaid, Home, Youth, and 7even Year Itch: Collective Soul’s Greatest Hits.

Collin Raye - “That’s My Story” from Extremes. “What If Jesus Comes Back Like That” from Superstar Christmas, and “I Can Still Feel You” from The Walls Came Down.

Common - “Southside” from Finding Forever and “The Light” from Hip-Hop: Gold. My brother introduced me to Common. I guess the guy’s been around for while.

Control Freak - “Rising Sun” from RPM American Eagle Outfitters Going Fast is Alive. A slow rave-like dance track. I love it.

Coolio - “1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin' New)” from Gangsta’s Paradise. A classic hip hop track.

Coors Light Commercial - “I Love Twins”. This commercial is awesome. Who doesn’t find good-looking twins attractive? Heck, I dated a girl once who had a twin sister. I have stories about that.

“C” Part 2 of 4

Celebrity Jeopardy - Saturday Night Live skits from the late 90’s to very early 2000’s. Will Ferrell plays the part of Alex Trabeck and various guest include Adam Sandler, Robin Williams, and Tom Hanks. By far, some of the funniest stuff I have ever seen and/or heard in my entire life.

Celine Dion - “A New Day Has Come” from the album of the same name, “God Bless America” performed shortly after 9/11, “The Christmas Song” from Superstar Christmas, “Because You Love Me” from 1997 Grammy Nominees album, and “My Heart Will Go On” and “Southampton” from the Titanic soundtrack.

Celtic Fiddle Festival - My wife owns the Rendezvous album and I quickly became hooked when she played it early on in our dating relationship. Awesome fiddle music that just makes one want to dance.

Celtic Ladies - A three-disc self-titled album that features many guests singing with these three ladies that not only have great voices, but are also gorgeous.

Chad Kroeger - “Hero” from the 2007 re-release of Silver Side Up album.

Chain suck - “I.S.O.” from H2o American Eagle Summer Sampler. Emo/Punk girl band. Not a track I would normally listen to, but what are you going to do when you shop at store and they hand you a free CD? Of course I kept it, even if there are bad tracks on it.

Chalk Farm - “The Girl is Crying” from Feel the Power sampler album. A decent song. Again, what is one to do with a free CD?

The Champs - “Tequila” from The Very Best of the Champs album. What a great party song! Many personal memories accompany this song.

Chantal Kreviazuk - “In This Life” from What If It All Means Something record. Sounds like Alanis Morrisette merged with Sheryl Crow. A great song and one-hit wonder.

The Charlie Daniels Band - Complete Road Dogs and Super Hits albums. A great band that has left us with great music to share with future generations.

Charlie Hall - I discovered this band through my brother-in-law. I have entire The Bright Sadness, On the Road to Beautiful, and Our Love is Loud albums. A fairly new contemporary Christian worship band that possess a sound distinct from other modern worship bands. Could be compared to David Crowder.

Charlie Hunter Quintet - These two songs feature Nora Jones on vocals. “Day is Done” and “More Than This” from Songs from the Analog Playground.

Charlotte Church - Complete Dream a Dream album. A Christmas album that I only enjoy during the holiday season, unlike most Christmas music that I enjoy anytime, even when its 95 degrees outside.

Chasing Furies - “Thicker” from No Lies [1999] album. Female vocal-led band that fits in the same category as Superchick and BarlowGirl if you are familiar with the Christian music girl-dominated bands.

Cheap Trick - Complete Greatest Hits album and “Mighty Wings” from the Top Gun soundtrack. This group has been covered and also have covered hits themselves such as Elvis’ “Don’t Be Cruel”.

Chely Wright - “Jezebel” from Never Love You Enough and “Single White Female” the title track from one of her other albums. Straight-up country, but not sappy.

Chemical Brothers - “My Elastic Eye”, “It Began in Africa”, and “Pioneer Skies” from Come With Us album. The Chemical Brothers spin and mix with the best DJ’s across the world.

Cher - “Believe” from the album of the same name, “Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves” from 70’s Pop Number 1’s album. Cher has been around for quite a while and it seems every decade she has a different sound. Kind of like Madonna and her looks.

Cheri Keaggy - “There is Joy in the Lord”. A great worship song.

Cherish - “Do It To It” from Unappreciated. This group could be mistaken for Destiny’s Child very easily. This song was a big hit in 2006.

Cherry Poppin’ Daddies - Complete Zoot Suit Riot album. This album put this group on the map. They were instrumental in bringing swing dancing to the forefront in the late 90’s.

Chet Baker - My wife plays trumpet, so it was only natural that she enjoy the music of fellow trumpeters. I enjoyed some of it to and added the In a Soulful Mood album to my collection. Great background music for parties or just reading in your favorite spot.

Chevelle - I’m not sure if they are Christian or not, but they are good. Heavy rock. I have the following songs from various albums “Point #1”, “Prove to You”, “Vitamin R (Leading Us Along)”, “Closure”, “Forfeit”, “Send the Pain Below”, and “The Red”.

Chicago - One of my all-time favorite classic rock bands. I have the entire Heart of Chicago, Heart of Chicago Vol. 2, and XXX albums. A few of my favorites include “Look Away”, “25 or 6 to 4” and “Hard To Say I'm Sorry/Get Away”. My parent’s ‘song’ is “Colour My World”.

Chill - “I Was Made for Loving You [Club Mix]” from Clubcutz America. A great dance track that despite the virtually unknown artist, many may recognize.

Chingy - Complete Hate It or Love It album. I don’t really care for Chingy, but the album was given to me because a friend knew that I enjoyed rap. I also have “Balla Baby” from the Powerballin’ album. Now that it is a good song.

Chipotle - Yes, the burrito restaurant. “Burrito Lady” I heard a commercial one time and this was the song from that commercial. I have no idea who recorded it, but it is very catchy and so I emailed Chipotle and they send me the track!

Chlorine - This band sounds similar to The Goo Goo Dolls. I have the entire Primer album. It’s not too bad.

Chris Brown - “Run It” and “Yo (Excuse Me Miss)” from his self-titled album. “Kiss Kiss” and “Forever” from Exclusive. A great hip-hop newcomer in the last few years.

Chris Cagle - “What a Beautiful Day” from his self-titled album. A great country love song that isn’t cheesy.

Chris LeDoux - “Cadillac Ranch” from Whatcha Gonna Do With a Cowboy? A classic country hit in my book. Original lyrics and original sound.

Chris Rice - Complete Amusing and Short Term Memories albums. Chris Rice is probably best known for his song “Cartoons” which addresses the issue of “what if cartoon characters got saved?” I love it, even though it is just one of those funny, pointless songs. Most of his other stuff is more serious.

Chris Rock - “No Sex in the Champagne Room” from his Bigger & Blacker album. A funny skit and although the title is inappropriate, he really doesn’t even talk about it. It is just the chorus. The rest of the song is just ’revelation’ of Chris. There is some vulgar language at points. He did dedicate it to the Class of ‘99, which is me.

Chris Thile - Lead singer of Nickel Creek. “Salt Creek”, “Shipwrecked”, “Panhandle Rag” from Leading Off and “Hyperdrive” and “Leaves Off” from Stealing Second.

Chris Tomlin - Entire Arriving [Enhanced], Not to Us, See the Morning and “Whisper My Name” from Eterne - Never Be the Same compilation album.

Christina Aguilera - “Ain’t No Other Man” from Back to Basics, “Comon’ Over” from the album of the same name, and “Fighter” and “Beautiful” from Stripped.

Christina Millian - “AM to PM” from self-titled album and “Dip It Low” from It’s About Time. Millian sounds like all the other female teeny pop female artists. Good songs, though.

Caedmon’s Call - Complete albums: Back Home, In the Company of Angels: A Call to Worship, Intimate Portrait, Long Line of Leavers, Share the Well, and 40 Acres and the following singles: “Covenant Song” from City on a Hill compilation, “Another Ten Miles” from Propska One compilation. Great contemporary Christian band.

Caesars - “Jerk It Out” from 39 Minutes of Bliss (In an Otherwise Meaningless World) album.

Cake - Not complete albums, but many songs from the following albums: Comfort Eagle, Fashion Nugget, and Prolonging the Magic. Cake is distinctive in their sound and lyrics. Great traveling music.

The Calling - “Wherever You Go” from Camino Palmero album and “Our Lives” from Two. The Calling just rocks and they do it with a not-too-heavy sound.

Cam’ron - “Hey Ma” from Come Home with Me, “Girls” from Purple Haze, and “What Mean the World to You” from the S.D.E. album.

*Just also obtained Ben Folds’ album Way to Normal and “Ego (Remix)” from BeyoncĂ© from her Above and BeyoncĂ© - Dance Mixes. This track features Kanye West and is off da’ hook!

Candlebox - “Far Behind” from their self-titled album. I love this song and haven’t heard anything else from Candlebox, but they sound a lot like Pearl Jam if you are interested.

The Cannonball Adderley Quintet - “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” from their Mercy, Mercy, Mercy! Live at 'The Club' album. I heard this song performed by the a cappella group at my college and this is another version that I have of the song.

*Recently tried the band Bright Eyes I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning album and it was too depressing.

Capleton - “Hands Off” from his More Fire record. This song has a Reggae/Dance sound.

Capoeira - “Zum, Zum, Zum” from their self-titled album. This is the clip from the Mazda commercials. I guess this style of music comes from Africa and it has an Australia feel to it.

Captain & Tennille - “Love Will Keep Us Together” from 70's Pop Number 1's album. I just liked this song and have heard it in movie and such.

Captain Hollywood Project - “More and More” from the Love Is Not Sex album. This is another European Dance track that was big back in the mid-90’s.

The Cardigans - “Love Fool” from First Band on the Moon album. Another hit from the 90’s. Take one part Cranberries (the band) and one part Lisa Loeb and you’ve got the Cardigans.

Carl Carlton - “She’s a Bad Mama Jama” from '80s Soul Gold album. I head this song one night at the TV game show “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” and I liked it.

Carl Douglas - “Kung Fu Fighting” I bet you know this one, “everybody was kung fu fighting, those cats were fast as lightening . . . .” How can you not love this song?

Carly Simon - “You’re So Vain” from No Secrets album and “They Just Want You to Be There” from This Kind of Love album. Simon was big in the 70’s and the latter song is actually from an album she put out in 2008.

Carman - “Revive Us, Oh Lord” from Songs 4 Life album and “The Champion” skit from The Absolute Best Collection album. He also appears on multiple WOW albums, which I will mention towards the end of the blog.

Caroline’s Spine - Entire albums: Attention Please and Like It or Not. The following songs from their Monsoon album: “Unglued“, “Sullivan“, and “So Good Afternoon”. I also have the song “Varsity Blues” from the Varsity Blues soundtrack. I saw Caroline’s Spine live on the University of South Dakota campus and really enjoyed their creative sound.

Carolyn Dawn Johnson - “Complicated” from Room with a View album. A one-hit wonder from the early 2000’s. Similar sound to Jewel with a little more country flavoring.

Carrie Underwood - Complete Carnival Ride album and “Before He Cheats” and “Jesus, Take the Wheel” from Some Hearts album. Underwood is just plain awesome.

The Cars - Entire Complete Greatest Hits album.

Cascada - “Every Time We Touch” from the album of the same name. A fast dance track.

Cash Money Millionaires - “Undisputed” from the album of the same name. This song will boost your ego.

Casper - “Cha-Cha Slide” from the album of the same name. This song even has its own dance, I remember doing it in college. The song is actually the directions to the dance, so listen carefully to the lyrics and try to keep up!

Cassidy - “Get No Better” and “Hotel” from the Split Personality album. Great hip-hop songs.

Casting Crowns - Complete albums: The Altar and the Door, Casting Crowns, and Lifesong. I love Casting Crowns and they have been big on the recent Christian contemporary scene.

Current item count 19,161.

Cat Stevens - “Wild World” from Tea for the Tillerman and “Wild World” from Teaser and the Firecat. Cat Stevens is an interesting person to say the least.

CCU - This is where it gets slightly complicated. I attended CCU and my wife was a music major, so I have most of the concerts from the time I met her (2001) until I graduated in 2004. I won’t dive into song titles, but I will tell you the specific group(s), the name of the concert, and the year. CCU Mainstream Jazz Ensemble/Vocal Jazz Ensemble Concert 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. I also picked up a CCU Music Sampler that contains various group from various years. It was sort of an advertising piece for potential students. CCU 2002 Christmas Concert - various groups. 2002 Small Ensemble Concert, 2003 Faculty Jazz Combo concert. CCU Small Ensemble’s Recording Project was a project for students in the Sound Recording and Technology program, I’m not sure on the year, but it was early 2000’s. 2003 Chamber Orchestra concert, CCU University Choir performing in New York in 2002. 2000, 2001, and 2003 University Wind Ensemble. CCU Wind Ensemble performing in Chicago in 2002. That just about covers it.
