Nameless - Complete The Other Side of Forever. I heard this at a chapel service at the private Christian school that I used to work at. I emailed one of the worship leaders about it and it turned out that he actually wrote the song that he was performing. Nate Rees is the lead singer/songwriter for Nameless and Rees currently leads worship at a church in the Denver metro area. In case you are wondering, the song I initially inquired about is called “Uncontrollably”. It is awesome and Rees’ vocals are on the level of Jeremy Camp, Matthew West, and David Crowder.

Nappy Roots - “Awnaw” from Watermelon, Chicken, & Gritz.

Nas - “If I Ruled the World” from Feel the Power sampler, “I Can” from God’s Son, and “Hate Me Now” from I Am . . .

Not like those hip-hop girl groups, no, like Eminem rap. And she’s not afraid to tell it like it is. The rest of the stuff on the album is not as fun to listen to; covers of old songs, slow ballads, etc. I found these 4 songs worthy of iPod placement.

Nelly - 5 tracks from Country Grammar, “Errtime” from The Longest Yard soundtrack, 5 tracks from Nellyville, “Over and Over”, “My Place”, and “N Dey Say” from Suit, and the entire Sweat album.

Nelly Furtado - “Try” and “Powerless (Say What You Want)” from Folklore, “Turn Off the Lights” from Whoa! Nelly, and the entire Loose album.

Nena - “99 Red Balloons” from 99 Luftballons.

New Found Glory - “Tangled Up” from Not Without a Fight album.

New Kids on the Block - “Summertime” from The Block. I wish I had the equipment to turn cassette tapes into CD’s or mp3s. I used to have a few NKOTB tapes, I think they’re still at my parent’s house. Their supposed ‘comeback’ didn’t take off like I thought it would.

New Order - “60 Miles an Hour” from American Eagle’s Get Together sampler.

“M” Part 3 of 4

Mega Dance - “Atomic Techno”.

Melanie - “Where the Columbines Grow” from Melanie's Melodies of the Rockies. The only reason I have this track is because it is one of Colorado’s state songs and I taught Colorado History at the 4th grade level the past three years. Its opera-sounding, horrible, but, nice to have to demonstrate out state song to kids.

Melissa Etheridge - Complete Yes I Am album. Possibly her greatest album ever. I may attend a free show of her’s here in a few weeks in town for a festival.

Melody Gardot - “Who Will Comfort Me” from My One and Only Thrill. A Starbucks freebie. Has a jazzy feel to it.

Men at Work - “Down Under” from Business as Usual. “He just smiled and gave me a bite of his vegemite sandwich?” Vegemite is a savory yeast extract that is eaten as a spread, yuck, no thanks! Also have “Who Can It Be Now” from Now That's What I Call The 80s.

Men Without Hats - “Safety Dance” from '80s Dance Gold.

MercyMe - Complete albums: All That Is Within Me, Almost There, Traces of Rain Volume II, Undone, and 10. Best known for their original song “I Can Only Imagine”. It has been covered by many bands, but MercyMe wrote and performed the song first.

Meredith Brooks - “Bitch” and “Down By the River” from Blurring the Edges.

Metallica - Complete albums: ...And Justice for All, Garage, Inc., Load, Master of Puppets, self-titled, Reload, Ride the Lightening, S&M, and St. Anger.

Method Man - “How High” from Blackout!

Metro Station - “Shake It” from their self-titled album. This song was very popular last summer (2008).

MG! The Visionary - “Ruckus Bringa [Rough Mix]” from Cheapskates: Softer Side. Christian rap, not hip-hop, rap.

Michael Bolton - Entire albums: All That Matters, Time, Love, & Tenderness, and Timeless (The Classics) Vol. 2. Please don’t make fun of me. Bolton is one of my mom’s favorites, so I grew up listening to him. Not too bad, although he is, at times, a hopeless romantic. Some of his songs loose touch with what is reality.

Michael Damon - “Saved By the Bell” theme song. One of the best TV shows when I was growing up. When my brother and I watched TV back then, it was either Saved By the Bell or ESPN Sports Center.

Michael Jackson - “Man In the Mirror”, “The Way You Make Me Feel”, and “Smooth Criminal” from Bad, “Black or White” from Dangerous, “You Are Not Alone” from HIStory: Past, Present, Future, “You Rock My World” from Invincible!, and “Thriller”, “Billie Jean”, and “Beat It” from Thriller. RIP MJ.

Michael Peterson - “Drink, Swear, Steal, & Lie” from his self-titled album. A spin on a quote from which goes like this: “Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away.” This version is from the movie Hitch, but this song came out before the movie did. I’m not sure who said the original quote.

Michael Sembello - “Maniac” from the Flashdance soundtrack.

Michael W. Smith - Entire albums: Acoustic Set: A Live Recording, The Big Picture, Change Your World, The First Decade: 1983-1993, Freedom, Go West Young Man, Healing Rain, I’ll Lead You Home, I 2 Eye, Live the Life, Michael W. Smith Project, A New Hallelujah, The Second Decade: 1993-2003, Stand, This is Your Time, Worship, and Worship Again. I’m debating whether to put MWS in my Top 20. He may make it in the end. His stuff from the ‘90s and early 2000s is probably his best work, in my opinion. He has made it onto every WOW set except for 2005.

Michelle Branch - “Breathe” from Hotel Paper and “All You Wanted”, “Everywhere”, and “Goodbye to You” from The Spirit Room. An amazing pianist and vocalist.

Michelle Gayle - “Lookin' Up [West End Mix]” from Clubcutz America.

Me First & the Gimme Gimmes - “My Favorite Things” from Are a Drag. The album is made up mainly of show tunes. The album's title alludes to the fact that most of the songs on the album feature vocalist Spike Slawson singing songs that were originally performed by female characters in their original stage shows/movies. This particular song is from The Sound of Music and was written by Oscar Hammerstein II and Richard Rogers.

Meat Loaf - “I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)” and “Rock & Roll Dreams Come True” from Bat out of Hell II: Back into Hell and “Objects In The Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are single which is made up of 4 versions of the song ranging in length from 5 minutes to over 10 minutes. Meat Loaf is known for long songs and long song titles.

Meese - Entire albums: Broadcast, “Count Me Out" single, “Letters” single, Our Album Year, and The Start of It EP. Meese originates out of the Denver area. The band just released their first full-length album with Atlantic Records. Meese consists of brothers Pat and Nathan, drummer Ben Haley, and guitarist Mike Ayars. They also just released their first ever music video for the song “Next In Line”. Meese has toured with acts like The Fray and . I was actually didn’t care for their music at first, even though I had close ties (Pat played drums for my wife during her senior recital), but the more I listened, the more I enjoyed and now they are in my Top 20 easily, Top 10 definitely.

Madness - “Our House” from their self-titled album. This is the house that is “in the middle of the street”.

Madonna - “Die Another Day” from American Life, “4 Minutes” from Hard Candy, and “Don’t Tell Me” from Music. I don’t really care for her older stuff, although it would be nice to have. You never know when one of your friends will request an old-school Madonna song.

Magnifie - “Standing in Traffic” from H2o American Eagle Summer Sampler. Shout Rock, not yell, but shout, its still understandable.

Mandy Moore - “Candy” from the album of the same name, entire I Wanna Be With You album, and “Crush” and “Cry” from her self-titled album.

Manfred Mann's Earth Band - “I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man” from The Five Faces of Manfred Mann and “Blinded by the Light” from The Roaring Silence.

Little Texas - “Kick a Little”, the title track of this album.

Live - Entire albums: Awake - The Best of Live, Birds of Pray, The Distance to Here, Mental Jewelry, Secret Samadhi, Throwing Copper, and V. Throwing Copper is probably their best known album with “Lightening Crashes” being the popular track on that album. Liz Phair - “Why Can’t I Breath” and “Extraordinary” from her self-titled album.

Liza and the Soulstars - “Garden” from Real Tracks.

Lou Gramm - “Just Between You and Me” from Long Hard Rock and “Midnight Blues” from Ready Or Not.

Lou Reed - “Walk on the Wild Side” from his Transformer album.

Louis Armstrong - “What a Wonderful World”. I couldn’t find the name of the album that this track appears on, although I’m sure its on soundtracks and samplers.

Lounge Freak - “Punk Rawk Show” from Propska One. A slow waltz sort of track, think opposite end of the musical spectrum from punk music.

LTJ Bukem - “Journey Inwards” from RPM American Eagle Outfitters Going Fast is Alive. An instrumental track.

Lucky Boys Confusion - Complete Throwing the Game album. This album doesn’t have a single bad track on it. I know the lyrics to all of the songs. This is definitely one album to crank in your vehicle and rock out to.

Ludicrous - “What’s Your Fantasy” from Back from the First Time, “Get Back” and “Number One Spot” from The Red Light District, “Run Away” from Release Therapy, and “Area Codes” and “Rollout (My Business)” from Word of Mouf.

Lenny Kravitz - “Lady” and “Where Are We Runnin’?” from Baptism and “Again” from Greatest Hits.

LFO - “Girl on TV” and “Summer Girls” from their self-titled album and “Every Other Time” from Life is Good. I like girls that wear Abercrombie & Fitch, do you?

Lifehouse - Entire Into the Sun and No Name Face albums and “Whatever It Takes” from Who We Are. I love lead-singer Jason Wade’s voice; it has a strange smoothness to it.

And now we start with all the artists who decided that they were all “lil’” and didn’t want to bother adding the other three letters needed to spell the word ‘little’ the correct way.

Lil’ Flip - “Sunshine” from U Gotta Feel Me.

Lil’ Kim - “Magic Stick” from La Bella Mafia.

“L” Part 1 of 3

L.A. Symphony - “Broken Tape Decks” from Mix This: Extreme Music.

La Bouche - “Sweet Dreams” from the album of the same name.

Lady Antebellum - Their self-titled album. I began listening and liking cross-over country this past spring with listening to Rascal Flatts. Lady A is another one of those hybrid country groups.

Lady Gaga - “Just Dance” from The Fame. I’m still not sure if I like her song “Poker Face”, but I do know that I love this one.

Lady Sovereign - “Those Were the Days” from Public Warning! This songs takes me back to my childhood, speaking to all the fades of the ‘80s.

Lalo Schifrin - “Mission Impossible Theme Song”.

Lambert, Hendricks, & Ross - “Everybody’s Boppin’” from Lambert, Hendricks, & Ross! I heard this song performed by the Vocal Jazz Group at CCU and thought I’d get the original recording. This song puts Scatman John to shame.

Lari Goss - Entire The Glory of Christmas. Again, a church Christmas program that I was in.

Lasgo - “Something” from Some Things. Euro dance/rave music.

Laszlo - “Butterflies” from the album of the same name. This song is so weird; there’s a man’s voice that just talks in the middle of track and he asks repeatedly this: “Who are you really and what were you before?”

Laura Branigan - “Gloria” from her Branigan album. My parents had this song on a 45 and I used to request it frequently and then proceed to dance to it. I will never ever tire of this song, ever!

Lauryn Hill - “Doo Wop (That Thing)”, “Everything is Everything”, “Superstar” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” from The Miseducation of Lauyrn Hill and “Freedom Time” from MTV Unplugged 2.0. I would venture to say that Hill was more successful as a solo artist than as a part of The Fugees.

Layla - “Gotta Find Love [7" Radio Mix]” from Clubcutz America. Interesting use of a synthesizer.

LeAnn Rimes - “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” and “I Need You” from the I Need You album and “My Baby” from 1997 Grammy Nominees.

Led Zeppelin - Entire albums: Early Days: The Best of Led Zeppelin, Vol. 1, Latter Days: The Best of Led Zeppelin, Vol. 2, Physical Graffiti, “D'yer Mak'er” and “Over the Hills and Far Away” from Houses of the Holy, “Fool in the Rain” from In Through the Out Door, “Thank You” from Led Zeppelin II, and “Going to California” from Led Zeppelin IV. “Fool in the Rain” is my favorite Zeppelin song followed by “D'yer Mak'er”.

Ledisi - “Alright” from Lost and Found. A Starbucks freebie. Its an okay R&B/Soul track.

Lee Greenwood - “Battle Hymn of the Republic” Part of my Patriotic Mix CD that I made shortly after 9/11.

Leeann Womack - “I Hope You Dance” from the album of the same name. A great slow country song.

Legacy of Sound - “Wait (For Our Love to Find Us) [Extended Version]” from Clubcutz America.

Leigh Nash - “With Every Breath” and “Precious Jesus” from City On a Hill. Nash is the lead singer of Sixpence None the Richer.

The Killers - Complete Day & Age, Hot Fuss, and Sam’s Town albums.

Kim Carnes - “Bette Davis Eyes” from ‘80s Gold.

Kim Walker - “We Cry Out” and “How He Loves” from We Cry Out. Walker is the worship pastor at Bethel Chapel in California. Her passion for the Lord is extremely evident in the videos of her live performances of these songs.

Kim Wilde - “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” from 80's Pop Number 1's.

Kimberly Locke - “8th World Wonder” from her One Love album. Teeny love pop.

Kinetic Minority - Entire Kindle EP. This band formed at CCU under leadership of David Spence. They never made it big and didn’t last very long, but this album is decent.

Kirk Franklin - “Stomp” from God’s Property and “Revolution” from The Nu Nation Project.

Kiss - Complete albums: Alive III, Destroyer, and MTV Unplugged.

KMFDM - “Material Girl” from Virgin Voices Vol. 1: A Tribute To Madonna. KMFDM is an initialism for the nonsensical and grammatically incorrect German phrase "Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid", which literally translates as "no majority for the pity" but is typically given the loose translation of "no pity for the majority" or "no mercy for the masses". Their cover of Madonna’s song is very . . . . interesting.

The Knack - “My Sharona” from Get the Knack. One of the most popular and best ‘80s songs!

Kool & the Gang - “Celebrate!” from the album of same name (including the !).

Korben - Complete Steady Fools album. This husband-wife duo (now divorced) from Montana is really, quite good. I would have signed them to a Christian label, if I had the job and if the couple had stayed together. Chad Gerber (the husband) wrote all of the songs. A very quality recording, it’s too bad that Korben didn’t last.

Korn - “Got the Life”, “Falling Away From Me”, and “Freak on a Leash” from Follow the Leader and “Blind” from their self-titled album. The story of former Korn guitarist and background vocalist Brian Phillip Welch and his transformation to Christianity is inspirational and tear-jerking.

Kosmos Express - “The Force” from the Propska One compilation.

The Kry - Entire Unplugged and You albums. ‘90s Christian rock/worship band from Quebec City, Canada

Entire albums: Dance Naked, Freedom’s Road, self-titled, Life, Death, Love, & Freedom, Rough Harvest, and Trouble No More. I guess I would put Mellencamp in my Top 20. He is the only act I have seen at Red Rocks Amphitheater (Trisha Yearwood opened for him).

John Michael Montgomery - “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)” from self-titled album and entire Life’s a Dance album.

John Parr - “St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)” from St. Elmo’s Fire soundtrack. One of the best ‘80s songs ever.

John Reuben - “Him Her He She” and “God Is Love” from Are We There Yet?, “Nuisance” from The Boy vs. The Cynic, “Word or In Deed” from Monuments EP, and “No Regrets” from Take Time To Listen - Volume 5. Christian Hip-hop and pop. I had the privilege of seeing an intimate performance with John Reuben and he is just a normal guy, very friendly.

John Waller - Entire The Blessing album. Waller is featured on the soundtrack to the move Fireproof. If you haven’t seen it, go watch it, NOW! Waller is amazing.

Johnny Cash - Complete album Johnny Cash Sings His Best.

Johnny Flynn - “The Box” from his A Larum album. A Starbucks freebie. Flynn is British and this song sounds like it could be from The Beatles.

JoJo - “Too Little Too Late” from The High Road and “Baby It’s You” and “Leave (Get Out)” from her self-titled album.

Jon Ehrlich and Leigh Roberts - “House M.D. Theme Song” I love the TV show House and so I thought I'd obtain the theme song.

Jon Foreman - Lead singer and songwriter of Switchfoot, Foreman took a side step and did some solo work. The ending result is 4 EP’s, one for each season. Not a Switchfoot-sounding style, Foreman tones the music down and increases the lyrical deepness. Matching moods with seasons, Jon Foreman brings a fresh sound to Christian music.

Jon McLaughlin - Complete Indiana album. Soft melodies with a notable voice.

Jonah 33 - Entire albums: The Heart of War, self-titled, and The Strangest Day. Is it worth noting that there are only 4 chapters in the Book of Jonah, not 33?

Jonas Brothers - May I remind you, please don’t make fun of me. I happen to know what my students are listening to, unlike many elementary teachers these days. I connect with all people through music. I possess the entire A Little Bit Longer album and love it!

Jonathan Wiggins - Worship pastor at Resurrection Fellowship Church in Loveland, Colorado. Wiggins recorded an album entitled, The Year of the Lord. I love Wiggins’ voice and his uniqueness of leading from behind the keys and not the strings, as many worship pastors do.

Jonny Lang - Entire Wander this World album. Blues funk meets rocks is how I would describe this band.

Jools Holland and His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra - “Horse to Water” from Jools Holland's Big Band Rhythm & Blues. This song features George Harrison of The Beatles.

Josh Allan - Complete albums: All the Acoustic Pop You Can Drink, The Island Sessions EP, and The Let Go. Acoustic Pop if you can’t tell by the title of the first album. Josh Allan went to school with my wife and I and we even bought our washing machine from him. Josh, if you’re reading this, it is still going and cleaning clothes just as it was the first day it ever used. I would like you to come by sometime and autograph it. I’ll split the E-bay earnings with you 50/50.

Josh Groban - “You Raise Me Up” from Closer. I tried to listen to other Groban stuff and just couldn’t get into it. This track is historical, so I figured I’d better have it.

Josh Hoge - “360” from an album that never got titled because I don’t think it ever came out. Still a good song.

Josh Kelley - “Amazing” and “Everybody Wants You” from For the Ride Home. Sounds like Jason Mraz and James Blunt combined.

Joshua Kadison - “Picture Postcards” and “Jessie” from Painted Desert Serenade.

Joshua Street - “Worlds Apart”, “With Me Always”, “You Have Chosen Me” and “Accountability” from an album they never titled. My wife was in the same major as these guys and somehow ended up with a CD of their stuff. I’ve decided to titled the album after the band, Joshua Street. In case you are wondering where Joshua Street is, its in London. There are other Joshua Streets as well, in various countries, including the US (in multiple states).

Journey - Complete Escape, Greatest Hits, and When You Love a Woman/Message of Love albums. The last one is more of a single or EP than an LP.

“J” Part 2 of 3

Jessie Baylin - “Was I On Your Mind” from Firesight. Starbucks freebie.

Jesus Culture - Kim Walker is a major contributor to this worship project, which is out of Bethel Chapel in California where Walker is the worship pastor there. “I Adore You” is from their We Cry Out album, which is amazing and probably one of my Top 5 worship albums ever.

Jet - “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” from Get Born.

Jewel - Complete Goodbye Alice in Wonderland and Pieces of You albums. “Standing Still” from This Way.

Jill Philips - “Hanging On” from New Music 03.

Jimi Hendrix - “All Along the Watchtower” from Electric Ladyland. A great cover of Dylan’s well-known recording.

Jimmy’s Chicken Shack - “Do Right” from Bring Your Own Stereo.

Jimmy Buffet - “Brown-eyed Girl” from Meet Me in Margaritaville. The only Buffet track I have. The only other one that I would want is “Margaritaville“. Buffet doesn’t really appeal to me, which is strange, because of my wide taste of music.

Jimmy Eat World - Top 50. A handful of tracks from Bleed American, complete Chase This Light album, “Table for Glass” and “Believe in What You Want” from Clarity, “Work” from Futures, “Softer” from Jimmy Eat World (EP) (1998), and “Seventeen” from Static Prevails. Similar sound to All-American Rejects and Good Charlotte.

Jimmy Needham - “Fence Riders” and “Lost At Sea” from his Speak album. Needham is a newcomer to the Christian music scene and his lyrics are very thought-provoking.

Jimmy Page/The Black Crowes - Complete Live at the Greek album. My brother-in-law shared this with me. Not too bad. If I need room on my iPod in the future, this will probably be one of the first groups to be ‘unchecked’.

Jo Dee Messina - “That’s the Way” and “Bring on the Rain” from Burn, “Bye Bye” from I’m Alright, and “Heads Carolina, Tails California” from her self-titled album. Another one of the few female country artist that I enjoy.
