This playlist makes great background music. A variety of genres are covered, and there are no words. Some tracks are entertaining, others dark and mysterious. A few theme songs from TV shows or movies, a sprinkle of bagpipe songs, and handfuls of jazz infuse this playlist and can be listened to intensively or just something to put on and not think about.

The "Intro to ..." is the intro to "All Along the Watchtower" which is a very different intro than the last track in this playlist.

This playlist is very new and was inspired by randomness in my head. It wasn't any particular song that prompted this playlist, the idea just came into my head from nowhere. As with all other playlists, I'm open to adding new songs that fit in.

Country? (sample)

"All I Want To Do" - Sugarland Love On the Inside
"All We'd Ever Need" - Lady Antebellum Lady Antebellum
"Backwards" - Rascal Flatts Me and My Gang
"Evangeline" - Little Big Town A Place To Land (Deluxe Edition)
"Fascination" - The Greencards Fascination

A few of my playlists are samples, which are just reminders to myself if I ever feel like listening to music by similar sounding artists. For example, here we have a playlist of artists that are classified as country, but also have rock and pop infused into their sound. I have loads of music by the five artists listed above, so to make a playlist that is hundreds of songs is just ridiculous.

There are a few more 'sample' playlists like this one, so keep your eyes open for them in the future. Cowboy up!

Colorado

"Colorado (alternative version)" - The Morrison Brothers The Morrison Brothers
"Colorado" - The Rentals REIGoPlaylist.com
"Colorado" -Stephen Stills Manassas
"Rocky Mountain Way" -Joe Walsh Classic Rock Gold [Disc 1]
"Rocky Mountain High" -John Denver Rocky Mountian High
"Where the Columbines Grow" - Melanie Melanie's Melodies of the Rockies
"Bye-Bye Mile High" - 106.7 KBPI 106.7 KBPI, Bye-Bye Mile High
"I-25 North" - CCU Mainstream Jazz An Evening of Jazz
"Colorado" - The Morrison Brothers The Morrison Brothers

Another very short playlist, but one should always have a playlist dedicated to their state. To quote The Morrison Brothers, "Great place to spend all your time . . . where the skies are always blue and the weather's always fine."

Coffee

"Afternoons and Coffeespoons" - Crash Test Dummies God Shuffled His Feet
"Coffee & Tea" - Josh Allan All the Acoustic Pop You Can Drink
"Coffee Mornin'" - Duke Ellington Member's Edition
"Coffee Shop" - Red Hot Chili Peppers One Hot Minute
"Coffee Shop" - Yung Joc Hustlenomics
"The Coffee Song" - Jars of Clay Front Yard Luge
"Expresso 2222" - Gilberto Gil Putumayo Kids Presents: Brazilian Playground
"Folgers Coffee Commercial" - Rockapella Don't Tell Me You Do
"Free Coffee" - Ben Folds Way To Normal
"Smellin' Coffee" - Chris Rice Short Term Memories
"Two Beds and a Coffee Machine" - Savage Garden Affirmation
"Wake Up and Smell the Coffee" - The Cranberries Wake Up and Smell the Coffee

While one of my shorter playlist, Coffee was the very first one. I love the stuff and I can't get ever get enough of it. I guess you could say its one of my very few weaknesses. While I don't really like Folger's and I don't drink coffee in the afternoons and I'm not a tea guy, these songs speak to the one caffeinated beverage that no matter where in the world one is, there it can be found. I'll have a large skinny mocha with extra whip cream steamed to 140 degrees with whole milk, half a shot of expresso, an extra shot of sugar free raspberry vanilla syrup, and sprinkles and maybe a cherry on top, PLEASE! Great quotes on coffee are found here.

"Albuquerque" Weird Al Yankovic Running With Scissors
"Nashville Skyline Rag" - Bob Dylan Nashville Skyline
"Manhattan" - Kings of Leon Only By the Night
"Beverly Hills" - Weezer Make Believe

This playlist is dedicated to great American cities. There are a few notes about some of the tracks: "T.S.O.P." is an instrumental track, Counting Crows appear twice on this playlist which goes against a general rule I have about playlists not made for one particular artist or group of artists, and yes, Weird Al Yankovic appears once again in a playlist. A very diverse playlist I must say. I really enjoy listening to this one.

Recent Rhythms (not a playlist)

The Red Jump Suit Apparatus - Entire Lonely Road album. I haven't listened to it yet, but I enjoyed their Don't You Fake It album, so I thought I'd give this one a shot.

Weezer - Complete Make Believe album. I have all of their other major releases, why not one more?

John Ritter - "Southern Pacifica" from So Runs the World Away. A Starbucks freebie.

Built to Spill - I mentioned this band in my last update and I loved them so much, I wound up getting most of their other albums; Ancient Melodies of the Future, There's Nothing Wrong With Love, There Is No Enemy, Perfect From Now On, and You In Reverse.

Relient K - Entire Forget and Not Slow Down album.

Ingrid Michaelson - Complete Girls and Boys album. Ingrid is probably best known for the song "The Way I Am".

Various Artists - Did I call it or what? My wife received the latest soundtrack to the latest Twilight saga; New Moon. It features bands I enjoy; Death Cab for Cutie, Muse, Mute Math, Linkin Park, and Paramore.

Kanye West - I've decided that Kanye is one of my most favorite rappers alongside Jay-Z, Eminem, and Snoop Dogg. I picked up his College Dropout album from back in 2004 when he was just breaking out into a league of his own.

Kid Cudi - "Day 'n' Nite" from Man on the Moon: The End of Day.

Taio Cruz - "Break Your Heart (ft. Ludacris)" from Rokstarr.

B.o.B. - Airplanes, Part II (ft. Eminem & Haley Williams from Paramore) from B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray. I have decided that this album may be worth purchasing; we'll see if we can get at least one or two more hits from the album.

Little Texas - "My Love" and "What Might Have Been" from Big Time.

Kevin Rudolf - "I Made It (Cash Money Heroes) (ft. Birdman, Jay sean, Lil Wayne)" from To the Sky.

Drake - "Fireworks" and "Find Your Love" from his upcoming release Thank Me Later. I cannot wait for it, Drake is a very creative and unique artist.

Aaron Tippin - "Workin' Man's Ph.D" from Call of the Wild. Old-school country.

Erykah Badu - "Window Seat" from New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh. I'm not sure I like this track, but my brother wanted me to try it out. We'll see . . .

Timbaland - "Say Something (ft. Drake)" from Timbaland Presents: Shock Value II.

That's it for now. I have some others in my mind that I'd like, so don't stay away too long. I should have a new list by the end of next week.

"Nothing Compares 2 U" Sinead O'Connor I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got
"I Think We're Alone Now" Tiffany Tiffany
"The Way I Am" Ingrid Michaelson Girls and Boys

This playlist is a total joke and should not be taken seriously even the slightest bit. One of my best friends and I joke that we have a bromance going on, so we made playlist 'dedicated' to each other. I made sure that none of these songs were on playlists that I have made for my wife as not to offend anyone. Again, this playlist and its contents should not be taken seriously at all. It is only as a joke and for good laughs only. I am not, in any way, romantically attracted to men. Reminder: This is only a joke and nothing else.

This playlist is unique because it features bands that all played the same stage at a Battle of the Bands competition at Colorado Christian University in the early 2000's. I attended and enjoyed these bands so much, I purchased their albums at the show. Fallenshort and Autumn's Favor are my favorites bands on this playlist. They know how to rock and keep it clean. I'm pretty sure most of these bands are from Colorado, but I'm not sure if all of them are Christian.

These are songs from Christian bands that originated in Colorado. Fiver Iron Frenzy, Foolish Things, and Brave Saint Saturn probably being the most well-known. S.O.K. and Three Cord Wonder are the same band, the lead singer/songwriter of Nameless is a worship paster somewhere in the Denver area, and Jonathan Wiggins is the worship pastor and head pastor at Resurrection Christian Fellowship in Loveland, Colorado. Shaded Red was a popular band back in the early part of the decade. Kinetic Minority originated at Colorado Christian University and had a very short-lived career. I had the fortune of knowing one of the members. Desperation Band is out of a church in Colorado Springs. The playlist name took some thinking, but what is Colorado known best for? Backpacking. Skiing and boarding, maybe, but that can only be done 5-6 months out of the year. I know Jesus would love to come backpacking in Colorado and I'd hope he'd like to jam out with some of these bands. Blessings!

Another fabulously creative playlist; one containing songs about foreign countries/regions/cities. The only artist repeated on this playlist is The Beatles. Yes, Weird Al even appears on this list. His song is awfully long (about 8.5 minutes), but hey, he deserves at least one song on one of my playlist. He will be featured later on with his very own playlist. As with the playlist of state songs, if you think of others, please leave me a comment and I'll see if I can find the track and add it to the playlist.

A Very Stately Playlist

"Sweet Home" Alabama Lynyrd Skynyrd Gold & Platinum
"There is No Arizona" Jamie O'Neal Shiver

"Ohio (Come Back to Texas)" Bowling for Soup A Hangover You Don't Deserve
"Oklahoma-Texas Line" Rascal Flatts Feels Like Today
"Tennessee River" Alabama For the Record
"God Bless Texas" Little Texas Big Time
"Virginia Moon" Foo Fighters In Your Honor
"Washington Square" Counting Crows Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings
"Song of Wyoming" John Denver Windsong

This was a great (and very creative) playlist I came up with when I was listening to "Florida" from Modest Mouse. I began to look for songs about states and came up with this list of 24. I wish I could have found more, but almost half will have to do. I also did a playlist for cities and one for foreign countries. This playlist is very diverse in genre, but probably not the most diverse I have. Let me know if there are other songs about states that you know of and I'll see if I can't find them and add them to this playlist. "Dakota" and "Carolina On My Mind" count for both the north and south versions of these states, so really I covered over half of the U.S.A.

This playlist was compiled from songs that my roommates from the summer of 2003 were listening to. I was working at the YMCA of the Rockies, Estes Park Center as a day camp counselor. This was the summer that I became a true Dave Matthews Band fan. I also came to know of the bands Train and Coldplay during this particular summer.

This playlist was an inspiration from a good friend of mine. One song for each month of the year. I had a hard time with some months because there are many good songs about them. As you probably noticed, a few months have two songs. I could not choose, so if you want to leave your vote in the comments section that would be most welcomed. Also, some of the songs are really not about months, but I could not find anything else in my collection. Maggie May and August's Rhapsody being two of them.

Shinedown - Complete The Sound of Madness album.

Melanie Fiona - Complete The Bridge album. You may have heard her recent hit single, "You Stop My Heart" on the radio or other music outlets. Think Colbie Caillat mixed with Norah Jones and Alicia Keys.

Stay tuned, for I'm about to start blogging about my many, many playlists. If you have an idea for a playlist, please leave a comment for me.

Norwegian Recycling - "Soul of Fireflies", "Recycled Romance", and "No Taylor, No Scar". All free from his website; none from any album . . . . yet. "Soul of Fireflies" is awesome; a combination of Train's "Hey, Soul Sister" and Owl City's "Fireflies".

Various Artists - Best of Bonnaroo album. Go to http://www.musicforaction.org/ for a free, LEGAL download of the album. Includes artists such as the Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson, Wilco, and Phish. Guster, Pearl Jam, and O.A.R. also have a track each on the album.

Sugarland - Complete Enjoy the Ride album and entire Gold & Green album (Christmas album).

Putumayo Presents: ¡Salsa!
Putumayo Presents: Puerto Rico

Brad Paisley - Entire American Saturday Night album. I have been in a country mood lately, so I picked up a few country albums from my favorite country artists.

Toby Keith - A handful of songs I enjoyed from his Big Dog Daddy album.

Kenny Chesney - Complete Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates.

Chely Wright - Again, only a handful of songs. All from her Single White Female album.

Trisha Yearwood - Most of the songs from her Greatest Hits album.

Coldplay - Complete LeftRightLeftRightLeft compilation album. Coldplay began giving this album away at concerts and it is also available on their website for free download. Go here to download it free of charge. Consider it your gift for being a Coldplay fan. http://www.coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=395&page=200

Ok, here is where my brother once again comes into play. These are songs he introduced me to and most of them hooked me right away, a few grew on me over time.

Kid Cudi - "Pursuit of Happiness" from Man on the Moon: The End of Day. "Highs 'n Lows" which does not appear on any album. However, you can obtain it from this website: http://www.5starhiphop.com/2010/02/kid-cudi-highs-n-lows. This website has a great tracks, but I'm not sure how safe or legal it is, so proceed with caution. Both tracks are simply amazing. "Pursuit . ." has become a new anthem for me.

Rihanna - "Rude Boy" from her latest album: Rated R.

Mr. Hudson - "Everything Is Broken (ft. Kid Cudi) from Straight No Chaser.

Ke$ha - "Animal" from the album of the same name.

Ok Go - "WTF" from Of the Blue Colour of the Sky.

Travis - "Sing" from The Invisible Band album. This song was featured on the seventh episode of the second season of The Office.

Lady Antebellum - "Need You Now" from the album of the same title. I'm thinking about purchasing this whole album since I'm already a Lady A fan.

Black Eyed Peas - "Imma Be" from their most recent masterpiece, The E.N.D..

Lil Wayne - "I Got No Ceilings" from his most recent official mixtape, No Ceilings. It contains various freestyles over popular rap and R&B songs' instrumentals. This particular song samples very heavily from the Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling".

B.o.B. - "Nothing On You" (ft. Bruno Mars) from B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray. The video for this song reminds me of an 80's hip-hop music video.

Dan Black - "Symphonies (ft. Kid Cudi) [Remix] from UN. Amazing track! Check it out.

Chiddy Bang - "Opposite of Adults" from the single of the same name. Their debut mixtape Air Swell can be downloaded for free from Chiddy Bang's myspace page. It's so-so, nothing like "Opposite of Adults". This track is not on the mixtape, but worth the purchase. It will most likely be on their in-progress album due out in August of this year.

Various Artists - Download to Donate for Haiti album. Another freebie: http://tinyurl.com/y476hee. Downloaders are encouraged to donate for victims of the Haiti earthquake, but it is not required. Album features Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson, Weezer, and All-American Rejects.

Dashboard Confessional - Complete MTV Unplugged: v2.0 album. An awesome live album.

Carrie Underwood - Entire Play On album. As always, a beautiful voice and a beautiful face.

That's it for now. Visit next week, when I'm sure to have another update.

David Guetta - "Sexy Chick (ft. Akon)" from One Love.

Boys Like Girls - "Two is Better Than One (ft. Taylor Swift)" from their Love Drunk album.

Casting Crowns - Entire Until the Whole World Hears album.

Mystery Zone - "Spoon" from Transference. This was a Starbucks weekly freebie.

The Tragically Hip - Entire We Are the Same album. If you remember, I had a Starbucks freebie of this group and I decided that I liked it so much, I was going to try out the new album and it's decent. Decent enough to make it into my iTunes and onto my iPod.

Various Artists - Complete So Much to Save compilation album. This one was free, all I had to do was agree to do one of a few options to help save the environment. I agreed to properly recycle my old cell phones, which I will someday soon. This album features tracks by Dave Matthews Band, Umphrey's McGee, Hill Country Revue, Yoder Mountain String Band and a handful of other artists.

Werid Al Yankovic - Entire Even Worse album. One of his first. I unchecked a few of the songs because they don't appeal to me, but it is nice to have another Weird Al album to add my collection. You never know when one will need to pull out an album of his.

Billy Joel - Complete Stranger album. I had a few tracks from this album already, but I enjoy just about any Billy Joel song, so this album was definately worthy to be purchased.

Switchfoot - Entire Hello Hurricane album. Their newest venture, and possibly one of their best. It hasn't gained the attention that The Beautiful Letdown did, but it is on the same level.

The Northern Way (formerly Set Forth) - "The One" from Songs About Unicorns. This was a free track on Valentine's Day from the band. I'll looking forward to buying their new album. Another great band from Colorado.

Foo Fighters - Complete Greatest Hits album. I'm still missing a few FF albums, but they will be added eventually and I hope to have their complete discography by the end of 2010.

So here is where it gets confusing, so try to follow me on this one. My brother-in-law gave me a digital version of Coldplay's Parachutes album and he had it divided into Side A and Side B. Well, lo and behold, there is no Side B, just one disc. So I had to figure out where the other 12 or so tracks fell into the Coldplay discography. They were either from EP's or singles. Here are the albums that I compiled from these tracks; I had to add a few to make the EP's or singles complete. I'd still like to own everything that Coldplay has come out with because they are one of my favorites. The Blue Room EP, Trouble single, Brothers and Sisters EP, Shiver single, Safety EP, and Yellow single.

Third Eye Blind - Entire Red Star EP. This was released in 2008. "Non-Dairy Creamer" is an awesome song!

Dominic Balli - "All We Need Is Love (ft. Paul Wright)" from Public Announcement. Sounds like the Christian version of Bob Marley.

That's if for now, but stay tuned for more additions in the near future.

Rodrigo y Gabriela - "Santo Domingo" from 11:11.

Entire iTunes Holiday Sampler. Highlights: Weezer singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas", Stephen Colbert's "Another Christmas Song", and Barry Manilow's "Carol of the Bells/Jingle Bells".

Lullaby Players - Complete Sleepytime Tunes Tribute to Dave Matthews Band. The best way to get children hooked on Dave Matthews Band as early as possible in life. I'm excited to play this for my future kids.

Third Eye Blind - Entire Ursa Major album.

Relient K - "Forget and Not Slow Down" from the album of the same name.

Kris Allen - "Live Like We're Dying" from his self-titled debut album.

These next tracks come via finding my old radio-recorded tapes from high school and now I have the songs on my iPod. Great country tracks that many people have forgotten about.

Mark Chesnutt - "Bubba Shot the Jukebox" from Longnecks and Short Stories.

Diamond Rio - "Norma Jean Rile" from their self-titled album and "Bubba Hyde" from Love a Little Stronger.

Neal McCoy - "Wink" from No Doubt About It.

Randy Travis - "Whisper My Name" from This is Me.

Reba McEntire - "Why Haven't I Heard from You?" from Read My Mind.

Shenandoah - "If Bubba Can Dance (I Can Too)" from Under the Kudzu.

Tracy Byrd - "Lifestyles of the Not So Rich and Famous" from No Ordinary Man.

Tracy Lawrence - "If the Good Die Young" from Alibis and "Renegades, Rebels, and Rogues" from the album of the same name.

That's it for the old country hits.

The Script - "Breakeven" from their self-titled album.

Alicia Keys - "Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart" from The Element of Freedom.
